Forecasters Predict Promising Interior Design Job Outlook

The job market has both dealt and taken many tough blows in the past couple of years.  Large corporations as well as small businesses are downsizing and struggling to stay afloat in the job industry. The labor industry projects the interior design job outlook is bright and will not just survive but will thrive in the coming years. This fun and exciting field is not only becoming popular, but also an intricate component in the home building and construction process.

The interior design field offers a decent starting salary at around $35,000 and can almost double in some of the higher paying industries, such as the architectural and engineering industry. This specialty not only pays the most, but also seems to offer the most stable career option for interior designers. The housing market is suffering, but must turn around for the stability of our economy. As the housing market is stimulated and consumers buy and sell houses, there may be more of a need for interior designers.

Interior designer jobs are expected to be in demand, thus creating a bit of competition amongst designers for available positions. Those designers with a formal education, creativity and savvy business success will go the distance in the field.  More private industry may use interior designers, depending on how the economy stabilizes and the housing industry grows.

The surge in home improvement television shows has helped the interior design job outlook. More people want to transform their living space into a customized showpiece for all to see. More people are expected to seek specialized interior design assistance to spruce up their homes for resale as well as to enjoy for themselves. Floral designers may see more opportunities for business as people seek to transform their yard space into a mini floral paradise for admiration and entertainment.

Interior design is a career path that will see a large jump in growth over the next few years or so. Large industries such as the healthcare industry will utilize more design services to implement elder design spaces for the growing senior population.  In addition, the green design is already being used more in new construction using such things as solar windows and renewable resources. An interior design degree gives designers a myriad of career paths to choose from, both in consulting and self-employment area as well as the public and private sectors.

The ability to take a design concept from its intellectual conception to a tangible completion to create and enhance space is an artist’s dream scenario.  Some people earn an associate or bachelor degree and are stuck in the rut of a dead end job search in their particular field of study. Our struggling economy only seems to aggravate the situation as there are so many people trying to land the handful of jobs that are available.  Interior design is growing in ever-increasing popularity these days and, if things go as expected, will enjoy many more years of success for home improvement and building design.
